This book caught my eye while browsing in the library. A boy living at home with a wave seemed so bizarre and I guess that was all the more appealing. What stunned me was that this wasn’t just any boy meets wave story…this was a truly beautiful love story!
Written more like prose, Catherine Cowan’s children’s book, My Life with the Wave, is a touching tale about companionship, love, jealousy, fear, and loss. Each word lays on the page as if it were a grain of sand making up the beach, and it’s fluorescent descriptions are more colorful than the finned inhabitants under the sea. Not to mention the illustrations are remarkable! Definitely a must read!
